How long have you been a member of IABC?
Since 2008.
What is your current position/company?
I am the Marketing Manager at CIGNA Voluntary, a division of CIGNA HealthCare. We provide health benefits to part-time and hourly workers in high-turnover industries such as retail, restaurant, and staffing that don’t have access to comprehensive medical plans.
What is your favorite aspect of your job?
The variety. From copywriting and managing the creative direction of collateral and web to managing tradeshows and media planning.
What do you hope to gain from your membership/involvement with IABC?
In the past year, I have volunteered as the Brand Champion. I sit on monthly calls with other marketing volunteers that represent IABC chapters around the world. I learn about innovative projects other chapters are working on, and will continue to share them with the Phoenix Chapter. I’m also looking forward to the monthly lunches. They are a great time for getting together with professionals in the industry.
What words of advice do you have for young professionals?
Take advantage of as many internships, jobs or volunteer opportunities that you can. Getting experience in different fields and business environments, you find out what you don’t want to do. Then, you’ll find out what you want to do!
Who was/were your biggest professional influence(s)?
My aunt. While she’s not the only reason I moved from Wisconsin to Arizona, her professional career and words of experience have always been inspiring.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Golf, shop, watch movies, attend art events, and plan my wedding!
What destination do you want to travel to the most?
I’d love to visit some friends in Australia and Brazil, but I’ll go just about anywhere!
