Award of Merit Communications and Public Affairs Team Pizza Hut SCF Arizona
In developing story ideas for the SCF Arizona quarterly magazine, which is sent to all policyholders, more than 56,000 Arizona businesses, the Communications and Public Affairs Division's writers identify story ideas that provide information on the workers' compensation industry, workplace safety, legal issues and policyholder success stories. When the writer learned about an innovative program initiated by the co-owner of eight Pizza Hut restaurants in Arizona, he saw an opportunity to share one company's success with other policyholders – especially those that hire teenagers. An important aspect of SCF's mission is to counsel and provide advice to policyholders on what they can do in their businesses to create a safer place for their employees. The writer believed that in telling this story, other small business owners in Arizona could benefit and develop similar programs, which empower employees on the front lines to make their workplaces safer.
