Allstate differentiated its brand in a highly competitive automotive insurance market with a month-long media campaign aimed at positioning the company as a champion of safe drivers. Leveraging its annual America's Best Drivers Report – which ranked Phoenicians as the safest big-city drivers – Allstate conducted a media blitz in May 2006 announcing the study findings and rewarded Phoenix drivers with a free gas giveaway in June, drawing live trucks from every local television station. The effort fueled strong media results, boosted employee morale and drove sales leads for area insurance agents.
