Award of Excellence Dana McGuinness Wicked Arizona State University – Gammage
In August, the Broadway hit Wicked made its Arizona premiere at Arizona State University (ASU) Gammage, one of the largest university-based presenters of performing arts in the world.
Wicked is Broadway's biggest blockbuster. It is the story of two girls who meet in the Land of Oz, long before Dorothy drops in. One – born with emerald green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey and how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda, the Good Witch. The Broadway series is the most important audience-building component of the public relations and marketing activities for ASU Gammage. With Arizona 's premiere of Wicked, ASU Gammage hoped to sell-out the two-week run to 45,000 people.
