The New APS Intranet: Keeping Employees Plugged In

Thursday, February 18
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
University Club of Phoenix 39 E. Monte Vista

While cited as one of the nation’s Top 20 intranets in 2000, the APS Internal Communications team knew its once-popular eOn site was gathering dust. Sadly lagging behind current technology and online communication practices, the site lacked the pull to effectively engage employees. Enter SharePoint and a one-year research and production effort, culminating in the December 2009 launch of Inside APS. Less than two months later, employees are regularly engaging in conversations online, actively contributing content, and personalizing their own digital workspaces, all resulting in a significant spike in readership.

Presenters:
Janie Holmes-Davis, Mgr. of Internal Communications, APS
Kevin Langbaum, Internal Communications Representative, APS

What attendees will learn:

• Characteristics of top-performing intranets
• Why your intranet can – and should – be your communications hub
• Ways to engage your audience through interactive site features
• How to make it real and keep it fresh, using the resources you already have
• Skeptics to champions: how to get your management onboard
• The SharePoint platform: pros, cons and what’s on the horizon

Help Us Be Heard About IABC Membership Month

Each year, for one month IABC offers a special incentive to new and lapsed members:  no application fee to join or renew! This amounts to savings of $30 for online enrollments and $40 for faxed, mailed or phone-in registrations. In this price-sensitive economy, everyone is looking for a bargain, so please help your professional peers take advantage of this limited time promotion available during February only. All new or lapsed members qualify, and IABC has different membership types and a special payment plan to help more communicators enjoy member benefits. Thanks for helping IABC Be Heard™ by promoting Membership Month within your own professional networks. You can direct questions to the IABC Phoenix VP of Membership Jenna Wright Rowell, ABC.
